The Best Small Kitchen Appliances Reviews
1.
Toshiba EM131A5C-SS Microwave Oven – Best Small Kitchen Microwave
Every home has to have one, and the Toshiba Microwave Oven tops our list for convenient reheating and cooking on the go. Housed in a sleek modern silver design with strong lines and inconspicuous counter presence, this microwave is equipped with all the features needed to make it a kitchen staple for years to come.
Peak adaptability…
At 1100 watts, the Toshiba Microwave boasts ten unique power settings and six auto menus that include two defrost settings. Reheating is streamlined with a sensor reheat option that allows for a fool-proof approach to leftovers. Entrées and veggies cook up in a breeze along with frozen meals or leftovers, for peak adaptability.
There’s even a soften and melt function for sensitive ingredients like butter, cheese, and chocolate that tend to overcook in less capable microwaves. It’s further equipped with standard features, including a clock and timer with a silenceable buzzer alert.
Ideal for heating leftovers and defrosting meat, this microwave isn’t sized for large baking projects or oven replacement. Even though it’s not large enough for casseroles, or whole chickens, it’s perfectly suited for small households and essential kitchen operation.
Eco-mode…
The standout detail lies in this appliance’s environmentally conscious eco-mode, which minimizes energy consumption by 50 percent for a more sustainable home electronic. Not only will the electric bill be lower, but there’s also less wear on the appliance over time.
Small enough to fit on your countertop and strong enough to tackle all your basic needs, the Toshiba Microwave is a heated contender for the best small kitchen appliance.
Pros
- Stainless steel body.
- Interior LED light.
- Even cooking.
- Multiple functions and pre-settings.
- Eco-friendly power saving.
Cons
- Buttons are noisy.
- No reminder alert for items forgotten in the microwave.
2.
KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Tilt-Head Stand Mixer – Best Small Kitchen Stand Mixer
This affordably sized classic KitchenAid mixer transforms any baker’s kitchen into a convenient workspace for churning out favorite recipes. Known widely for it’s dominating design, the KitchenAid Artisan Tilt-Head Stand mixer delivers for average homes in a smaller sized but highly capable system.
Highly versatile…
This mixer comes in five unique colors and includes extra accessories like the flat beater and 6-wire whip and dough hook. Controlled by a sliding scale of ten automated speed settings, it’s easy to customize mixing to your preferences. Features like the automatic shut-off and slow start help to upgrade this starter mixer’s efficiency too.
Though the KitchenAid Artisan is well-equipped for home baking, the motor won’t stand up to commercial bread mixing. It isn’t the most robust option out there, and won’t live up to the strain taken by higher volume commercial mixers.
Our verdict?
The tilt-head feature allows for clearance into the bowl, so ingredients may be added throughout the mixing process. Details like this aid in the overall usability of the mixer and allow it to quickly whip up to nine dozen cookies, larger batches of bread dough, and much more.
Another benefit is that KitchenAid mixers are compatible with more than 15 different attachments ranging from pasta makers to meat grinders. This small appliance is one that can evolve with a kitchen over time and take on more use as needed.
For regular bakers…
Compared with the other products in this review, this mixer falls into a category of its own and is pricier and more advanced than most of the other products selected. Not everyone needs a stand mixer, but for home bakers, this is an essential and affordable option that will hold up after years of use.
Pros
- 10-speed sliding scale.
- Includes flat beater, wire whip, and dough hook.
- 120 Volts.
- 15 Additional attachments.
- 5-quart Stainless steel mixing bowl.
- Simplifies mixing, kneading, and whipping.
Cons
- Not the most necessary of small kitchen appliances.
3.
The Powerful STX Turboforce Classic 3000 Series Electric Meat Grinder & Sausage Stuffer – Best Small Kitchen Meat Grinder
Further, into the realm of niche home appliances, the powerful STX Turboforce Classic 3000 Series Meat Grinder and Sausage Stuffer is not for the faint of heart. Whether you’re after home stuffed sausages or more affordable pet food, grinding meat has never been more straightforward.
Why grind meat?
Home meat grinding can be more cost-effective and allows for more customization for perfect cured meats. The Turboforce Classic can process 180 – 240 pounds of meat per hour and comes powerful enough to handle any job thrown at it. An AVI (advanced variable intake) function serves to assist in grinding large portions of meat.
There are also a host of attachments included like the aluminum grinding head, meat hopper, cutting blades, grinding head, meat hopper, cutting blades, three sizes of grinding plates, a beaner for sausage stuffing, three sizes of sausage stuffing tubes, two free meat shredder claws, and a 3-in-1 slider press.
Incredible durability…
The Turboforce is much faster than the KitchenAid meat grinder attachment and offers incredible durability as a solid-feeling machine with a polished aluminum body. While it may seem indestructible, this grinder is not for use with tendons, vegetables, plants, fruit or nuts, or bones.
Use with these items will negate the 30-day, full money-back warranty, and the three-year warranty on the cost of parts and labor.
The downside?
It’s a novelty item that most kitchens don’t require, with a steeper learning curve than most of the other small appliances we tested. Overall it’s a great addition to advanced kitchen spaces, but not the best small kitchen appliance on the market.
Pros
- Three-speed control panel.
- Ranging attachments included.
- Three-year all parts and labor warranty.
- 30-day Money-back guarantee.
- Sturdy and durable build.
Cons
- Cannot be used with tendons or bones.
- Novelty item.
4.
Panasonic FlashXpress Compact Toaster Oven – NB-G110P (Stainless Steel) – Best Small Kitchen Toaster Oven
A toaster oven with a professional edge, the Panasonic FlashXpress Compact Toaster Oven tackles a range of tasks while requiring minimal kitchen real estate. Fit with convenient and well-considered design upgrades; this toaster oven handles the role of the microwave with more health benefits to boot.
With six capable auto cook programs including toast, quick reheat, frozen pizza, frozen waffles, frozen hash browns, and reheat rolls, there’s no shortage of use. Designed in a square format with smooth buttons for easy cleanup, there’s even a spring on the glass door that aids in extraction from the interior trays.
Best of all…
The Panasonic FlashXpress Compact Toaster Oven is a healthy alternative to a microwave and 40 percent faster than traditional toaster ovens. Ultra quick heating time makes preheating unnecessary thanks to infrared heating elements made from highly efficient quartz and ceramic.
The back element is for cooking food, while the front element toasts to perfection. Just 7.5 pounds and 12 by 13 by 10.5 inches of counter space required it’s relatively mighty for its tiny size.
Offering exceptionally even baking, toasting, and reheating, the compact oven can easily fit 9-inch pizzas or four pieces of bread; there’s little shortage of use. Though it can be used to cook raw meats, it should always be wrapped in foil to keep sanitary.
Our concern?
There are several warnings against fire hazards, including foods like tortilla chips, which may catch fire. Panasonic also recommends placing the unit around four to six inches away from the wall for safety.
At 1300 watts, this toaster oven, unfortunately, doesn’t get hot enough to broil, and the timer can only be set to 25 minutes. This calls for more attentiveness while baking larger items and can detract from its overall convenience.
Pros
- Six auto cook programs.
- Easy viewing through glass door.
- Minimal kitchen space needed.
- Lightweight.
- Heats faster than conventional toaster ovens.
Cons
- Not compatible with some food items.
- Items like buttered bread can become flammable.
- Bulbs are expensive to replace.
- Cannot bake for longer than 25 minutes.
5.
Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler – Best Small Kitchen Griddle
The Cuisinart 5-in1 Griddler brings the outdoors in without sacrificing any style points. With a versatile design that allows this press to transform into a small open grill, there’s no shortage of ways to use this small appliance.
Smart design…
Cased in stainless steel with a thick handle that allows for smooth open and close function, the Cuisinart Griddler is conveniently controlled by specific Griddle, Selector, and Grill-Panini knobs. The Griddle function allows for temperature specification while the other knobs are more generally labeled for a particular use.
Both sides of the grill are removable, dishwasher safe, and coated with a nonstick coating, which helps prevent excess cheese and fats from building up on the cooking surface.
Best for cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinners in the all-American grilling tradition, the Griddler goes a step further with two grill top styles and has accessories to boot. Whether you’re after a perfectly grilled steak or a smooth surface for frying eggs, the Griddler has an option that fits the menu of the day.
Usability…
For sandwich and burger enthusiasts who want to bring the taste of the grill indoors, there aren’t a lot of grills that can live up to the streamlined usability of the Cuisinart Griddler. Though it mimics the performance of notable George Foreman Grills, the specificity of the Griddler outperforms Foreman grills for family kitchens.
At 13 x 11.5 x 7.12 inches, it isn’t the smallest kitchen appliance and will require space for pressing and grilling. And, unfortunately, Cuisinart products are known for limited lifespans and may require service. While there is a limited warranty, the company requires the buyer to cover all shipping costs, which can rise near the price of the product itself.
Pros
- Removable drainage tray.
- Three sleek temperature controls.
- Acts as panini press, griddler, and open grill.
- Nonstick griddle and grill top options.
- Additional waffle accessories available.
- Dishwasher safe grill toppers.
Cons
- Limited lifespan.
- Return policy requires buyer to pay for shipping.
6.
Instant Pot Duo Plus 9-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker – Best Small Kitchen Instant Pot
For a multi-cooker known the world over for ease and efficiency, the Instant Pot is one food trend that won’t be going out of style any time soon. With bountiful options for flavorful recipes in a single pot format, it’s no wonder this crock pot makes waves.
No effort required…
Speeding through traditional slow-cooked meals and desserts, the Instant Pot is one of the top small kitchen appliances for those just starting out. As an all-in-one appliance that can cook a whole meal with minimum effort, new college students and full families will enjoy the simplicity and usability of Instant Pot.
It’s a simple option for weekday meals for working families who don’t have time to devote to tedious prep work. Nowadays, there are even companies like Tiller & Hatch that create frozen entrees for the Instant Pot to expedite cooking further.
Great for first homes…
This pan really flourishes for those transitioning into first homes or new homes where space is limited. The 6-quart duo does everything from entrées to cooking rice, custards, cheesecakes, and soups at a conveniently affordable price.
It’s about half the size of a traditional rice cooker and replaces pressure cookers, rice cookers, slow cookers, sauté pan, steamer, egg cooker, yogurt maker, warmer, and even a sterilizer.
Bestselling size…
It’s simple to see why the 6-quart pot is one of the bestselling sizes; it saves space on the counter while providing ample serving capacity. It’s important to remember that the pot can only be filled to two-thirds capacity, which limits the serving sizes. We recommend it most for couples who want to have leftovers.
Pros
- Multi-purpose One-pot cooking.
- Highly adaptable.
- Fifteen smart programs for one-touch cooking.
- Nine appliances in one.
- Stainless steel pot with 3-ply bottom.
- Serves up to six people.
- Helpful recipe app.
Cons
- Mixed user responses to this model.
7.
Ninja Professional 72oz Countertop Blender (BL610), Black – Best Small Kitchen Blender
The Ninja Professional Countertop Blender is a big name in the world of blenders, but does it really live up to its promises? While every kitchen needs a good blender, this mid-range option isn’t the best money can buy.
A great blender serves as an investment in health and well-being and makes integrating more fruits and vegetables into daily diets a cinch. The Ninja’s size promises to do just this with a 72 oz pitcher that allows users to make large batches of smoothies or soup with plenty to share. It’s strong enough to make quick work of ice and whip up sauces effortlessly.
Simple to use…
The blender boasts impressive specs with a completely BPA free pitcher and the protection of a one-year warranty. The 100 W motor has the power to boot and is simplified by three control speeds along with a pulse function.
Both jar and lid feature a locking handle that makes it safe to use for all members of the family. Notably, the Ninja doesn’t generate extra heat or give off a smell during operation like other mixers, including the Vitamix.
The catch?
Despite six rapid moving blades, the Ninja struggles to purée ice and often leaves chunky pieces in the bottom of the pitcher. While this is common with most mid-range blenders, it doesn’t live up to the utility the Ninja brand suggests.
We were also disappointed to find that over time, the blades are prone to becoming dull and render the blender less useful. We estimate the blender to have an average life of about two years.
If you want to find out more about Ninja and their range of blenders, check out our review of the Best Ninja Blenders.
Pros
- Four automatic and four manual programs.
- 72 oz. BPA free pitcher.
- Recipe book included.
Cons
- Blades dull with time.
- 1-year warranty.
- Pitcher prone to cracking and leaking.
8.
Presto 03430 Pizzazz Plus Rotating Oven – Best Small Kitchen Frozen Pizza Oven
It may not be the first kitchen essential that comes to mind when picking a top favorite, but the Presto Pizzazz Plus Rotating Oven is more versatile than its name suggests. To save time and energy heating up frozen fast food, the Pizzazz Plus is a unique option for countertop use.
The 360 degrees of smooth rotation promises smooth and even pizza baking in half the time of induction ovens and far less energetic use. The open oven features both an upper and lower heating element with independent controls, which we found useful to achieve the perfect crispy pizza bottom.
Does it work?
Surprisingly, yes. The Pizzazz is well capable of creating perfectly crispy frozen pizza crusts and elevates the taste of the out-of-the-box pizza. Unfortunately, despite the perfect texture, the pizza isn’t as hot as it would be from the oven, and it can’t be used with square-shaped varieties.
So, is this the best small kitchen appliance?
For households that consume a lot of frozen goods like pizza pockets, chicken nuggets, egg rolls, or canned cinnamon rolls, this countertop oven might be the best for you, as it provides plenty of versatility. However, for households that don’t consume frozen food, it’s less likely to find use. It cannot be used with raw fish or meats but does work comparably to a toaster.
The Presto company was founded a century ago in Wisconsin and ensures all its products deliver quality and performance. The Presto Pizzazz comes with a two-year warranty to protect against any manufacturing problems and set users’ minds at ease.
Pros
- Automatic shut off.
- Independently controllable dual heaters.
- No need to preheat.
- 2-year warranty.
- Specialty frozen food oven.
- Dynamic design features.
Cons
- Gets significantly less use than other appliances.
- Only works well with frozen pizza.
- Not as hot as a conventional oven.
9.
Hamilton Beach Electric Indoor Searing Grill (25360) – Best Small Kitchen Searing Grill
Another valuable option for BBQ enthusiasts is the Hamilton Beach Electric Indoor Searing Grill. For grilling up juicy steaks and savory kabobs, this indoor grill mimics the work of favorite outdoor grills in a compact and indoor-compatible format.
With up to 450 degrees of high-powered heating, this 1200 W searing grill is the perfect addition to city apartments. Cook up juicy burgers, tantalizing steaks (with professional grill marks), and crisp corn on the cob. It also goes beyond the work of a griddle to offer ideal conditions for grilling hearty vegetables like eggplant, broccoli, and cauliflower.
Quick and easy cleanup…
The well-sized grill hood is dishwasher safe along with the plate and drip tray allowing for quick and easy cleanup. The nonstick plate is also simple to clean and offers efficient drainage to the drip tray.
The Hamilton Beach Electric Indoor Searing Grill is a similar design and size to the Cuisinart Griddler with some notable differences. To begin with, the Hamilton Beach Grill is about three inches wider, which allows for more grilling space.
The hood of the grill also mimics the arc of an outdoor grill, unlike the dual top grill surface featured in the Griddler’s design. This works better for an authentic BBQ feel and allows users to cook all parts of the meal at once, including side dishes like roasted vegetables and corn.
Lightweight…
It also includes a one-year warranty and straightforward handling. Thanks to its lightweight body, it can be transported with ease to different parts of the house or to a cabin for a weekend getaway. Be warned that the grill can get smokey, just like an outdoor grill, and will require a capable kitchen fan to keep the space clear.
For an indoor grill, we preferred the Cuisinart Griddler as the press style allows for faster cooking and more functionality. The added grated and smooth grill attachments, and full open option, allow users to conquer a wider variety of recipes.
Pros
- Affordable indoor grill.
- Brings outdoor flavors indoors.
- Two person grill capacity.
- Accurate temperature dial.
- Heating and temperature lights.
- Removable hood.
- Dishwasher safe.
Cons
- Can make the kitchen a bit smokey.
- Hinge requires precise placement to close completely.
10.
Magic Bullet Blender, Small, Silver, 11 Piece Set – Best Budget Small Kitchen Appliance
If you don’t have one already, here’s your reminder, the Magic Bullet is the real deal. Combining excellent performance with minimal design, the tiny bullet blender is a small investment that makes a big difference.
A small personal blender...
The Magic Bullet specializes as a single serving blender with 11 easy to use accessories. Transitioning from meal prep to heading out the door for work or a workout is easier than ever with the extra containers provided. It’s not hard to see how the bullet has become one of the most popular choices on the market after sparking a trend in small personal blenders.
The blender works famously with leafy greens but leaves much to be desired with frozen products and ice. For those looking for a go-to frozen berry blender, this isn’t your bullet blender.
But, it’s fully capable of blending dry ingredients, nut butter, and other non-traditional bullet blender fare. And, from prep work to sauces, to single-serving soups, there’s no shortage of use for this simple blender.
The best part?
The Magic Bullet blender is one of the most accessible ways to bring healthy choices into an active lifestyle. For many, getting the time to create a morning smoothie is a luxury. The Magic Bullet smoothly transitions from making to moving and allows users to get their nutrition on the go.
But can the Bullet do it all?
Unfortunately, at this price point, there are some drawbacks. The Bullet is quite shaky and noisy during use. The plastic cups also aren’t the strongest and may crack over time.
Overall, the Magic Bullet is the best small kitchen appliance on a budget, in our view. With easy storage and a bang for your buck, this tiny blender creates more ease and health in each kitchen it graces.
Pros
- 13 piece blender set.
- 250 watts.
- Swiftly blends fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Ideal for compact kitchens.
- Easy to clean after use.
- Simple design.
- Microwave safe for soups.
Cons
- Made primarily from low-grade plastic.
- Struggles with frozen ingredients.
- No measurements on blending cups.
- Only single-serving capacity.
11.
Oster Double Tiered Food Steamer (CKSTSTMD5-W-015) – Best Small Kitchen Steamer
Being an extremely lightweight kitchen appliance, and fully capable of cooking two courses at once, the Oster Double Tiered Food Steamer 5 Quart is an excellent option for home steaming. But before you get too excited, do take note that this model is not BPA free.
Though there is still much to learn about the long-term effects of BPA exposure, it is a considerable risk. The danger with BPAs and elevated heat is that food inevitably comes into contact with harmful untrapped BPAs in the plastic baskets of this Oster steamer.
On the positive side…
This Oster 5 Quart Steamer saves space in the kitchen and allows for straightforward use. It heats a bit more slowly than a traditional rice steamer. Still, it steams rice in just 45 minutes, corn in under 30 minutes, chopped potatoes in 20 minutes, carrots in 15 minutes, and smaller vegetables like broccoli in only 10 minutes.
It does require a relatively large amount of water in both tiers simultaneously to operate. It works best with 500 ml in both tiers and 250 ml for the bottom. Both baskets are the same size, which eases the setup process and eliminates the guesswork. Fitting protein into the circular design is a little less conducive compared to oval-shaped designs, but not impossible.
All in all…
For us, the compact upgrades fail to outweigh the downsides of BPAs in the plastic, slow heating, and circular design. We prefer the Instant Pot for steaming and multipurpose food prep.
Pros
- Two Tier design.
- Affordable version for small households.
- Automatic 60-minute timer.
- Space-saving design.
- Five qt. Capacity.
Cons
- Contains BPAs.
- Less practical than oval-shaped steamers.
- Must open the unit to add water.
- Prone to leaking if excess water is added.
12.
Ninja Food Chopper Express Chop (NJ110GR) – Best Small Kitchen Food Chopper
For those that can’t stand the prep work of home cooking or just lack the time, the Ninja Food Chopper cuts down kitchen time in a minimal design at a fraction of the cost of most food processors. Between the blender and food processor, the Chopper Express makes quick work of vegetables, nuts, and even chocolate.
Much like the bullet blender, this upgraded Ninja model puts a bit more power in the pulse of this capable blender. Whip up deliciously fresh pesto, curries, salsas, and nut butter. Like the Magic Bullet, the Ninja Food Chopper struggles with ice and makes chunky single-serving smoothies.
Ultra-lightweight…
At just three pounds, it’s ultra-lightweight design takes up minimal counter space and stores with ease while still holding 16 oz. stacked blades, making quick work of a wide range of ingredients, and maintaining sharpness over time when cleaned correctly.
With just a few seconds of use, it tackles traditionally tricky ingredients like leafy greens with less operation noise than the Magic Bullet.
The Ninja also seamlessly transitions to dishwasher cleaning allowing for swift and on the go grating and pulsing. Though it’s more expensive than the Magic Bullet, the two BPA free sip and seal lids, extra accessories, and 1-year warranty make it attractively affordable when all is considered.
Our verdict?
The Ninja Food Chopper is a better kitchen aid with higher quality accessories than the Magic Bullet. However, when it comes to overall value, we prefer the Magic Bullet for its smoothie performance and original appeal.
Pros
- BPA free.
- Space-saving size.
- Powerfully convenient.
- Dishwasher safe.
- Affordable food processing.
Cons
- Not well equipped for making smoothies.
13.
Cuisinart Stainless Steel Thermal Coffeemaker – Best Small Kitchen Thermal Coffee Maker
True coffee drinkers know that there’s not much worse than a lukewarm cup of coffee. The acidity becomes unbalanced and leaves the cup with a distinctive bitter aftertaste. The best way to savor and enjoy hot coffee longer is by investing in a thermal coffee maker that insulates fresh brews and allows you to enjoy your coffee the way it’s meant to be experienced, for longer.
The Cuisinart Stainless Steel Thermal Coffeemaker is roughly nine pounds in weight with 1.5 liters of liquid capacity. For most drinkers, that’s about 12 to 14 cups of fresh coffee. For small households, the Cuisinart Thermal Coffeemaker has smaller portioned settings that allow it to brew different numbers of cups.
Notable upgrades…
New features like ‘brew-pause’ help aid in accessibility and reduce the damage done to the lower heating pad. So, no need to wait until the pot is finished brewing; just hit pause and grab that cup before heading out the door. Other notable upgrades include the modern LCD backlit screen, aided function of the stainless steel pot, and leak-proof storage.
This sleek model brews with expert extraction at a quick and convenient brewing speed. You can set the automatic brew timer to simplify your morning routine and wake up to the wafting scent of fresh brew. Everyone needs a good coffee pot, and whether you host guests or just need to fuel the family, the thermal technology of Cuisinarts 3400 coffee maker is hard to beat.
Flaws?
The only flaw we can detect is that the pouring spout requires excessive tilting to empty the carafe. This seems to create a tighter seal and protects the temperature of the coffee but detracts from overall usability.
However, for coffee addicts, this basic coffee pot does everything needed and then some and makes for an ideal small kitchen appliance.
- Made from stainless steel.
- 24-hr Brew timer adds convenience.
- Coffee stays warm for up to three hours.
- Variable brewing setting from regular to bold.
- Self-clean function.
- Water reservoir is easy to access and monitor.
Cons
- Pouring spout is subject to spilling.
14.
Secura SWK-1701DB The Original Stainless Steel Double Wall Electric Water Kettle – Best Small Kitchen Electric Kettle
The Secura Original Stainless Steel Double Wall Electric Kettle is a contemporary option for water heating and eases kitchen prep work. Kettles help small spaces become more functional with their simple utility.
Water kettles are perfect for dorm rooms, small kitchens, and campers alike. For tea, instant noodles, and boiling water in a snap, kettles provide on-the-go convenience using minimal kitchen real estate. They also speed up baking projects and prep work where warm or hot water is required.
Completely BPA-free heating…
Though the Secura has a minimal, no-frill design, there’s been ample consideration of quality and performance. The double wall of the kettle is made from stainless steel expertly hidden by a BPA free plastic exterior, which stays cool to touch while retaining high temperatures longer.
Even the top lid is made from stainless steel so that no plastic parts come in contact with the water, making for entirely BPA-free heating.
Energy conservation…
The 1.7 L kettle comes in three color options with an extra-wide, easy pour spout. The British Striz control allows for energy conservation without delaying the speed of heating, but there’s only one heat setting, which does limit overall versatility.
If you’re searching for an affordable purchase that maximizes a small space with high impact, the Secura Water Kettle is an addition you won’t regret.
- Durable build.
- Streamlined design.
- Affordable.
- Five color options.
- 1.8-quart Capacity.
- Steam sensor swift.
- Automatic shut-off after water is boiled.
Cons
- No viewing window for the water level.
- Louder than other kettles.
- Many reports of interior rusting.
15.
Duxtop 1800W Portable Induction Cooktop Countertop Burner, Gold 8100MC – Best Small Kitchen Induction Cooktop
The Duxtop 1800 Watt Portable Induction Countertop Burner is a genuinely portable, energy-conserving, and space-saving induction hot plate.
With 15 temperature controls from 140 F to 460 F and 15 different power levels, it’s more convenient to reach specific temperatures than other hot plates on the market. The ample temperature options also allow this hotplate to tackle a wide variety of recipes without breaking the bank.
No overheating…
This modestly shaped hot plate sears meats, stir-fries veggies, boils soups, and more. The built-in timer will automatically shut off after 170 minutes of use, which will avoid overheating and accidents. An automated pan detection system also shuts down the hot plate after 60 seconds if no cookware is detected so, be careful not to move the pan unless you have finished cooking.
Built to North American electrical standards, this Duxtop Induction cooktop does not require a converter or any additional electrical grounding. It heats to 350 F in about a minute and makes cooking a range of recipes super simple.
Simple, intuitive controls…
The slanted display screen further distinguishes the Duxtop and is easier to read than typical flat-topped induction plates. The minimal design of the LCD screen with five primary control buttons keeps operation simple and intuitive while adding an extra cooking space anywhere you need it.
Pros
- 15 power levels.
- 15 temperatures.
- 1800 watts.
- Auto pan detection.
- Easy diagnostic error message system.
- Works with a variety of cookware, including cast iron.
Cons
- No child lock.
- Only works with magnetized cookware.
- Noisy ventilation fan.
- Temperature control tends to overheat when pan is empty.
- 25 lb Weight limit.

Dash Black Rapid 6 Capacity Electric Cooker – Best Compact Kitchen Egg Cooker
Hard-boiled, poached, scrambled, or omelets, the Dash Rapid Electric Cooker is an affordable option for a specialist egg cooker. Excellent, edible eggs may not require a separate cooking appliance, but at an affordable price and tiny size, this offers incredible value.
Poaching perfect fluffy eggs has never been simpler than with the Dash Rapid Electric Cooker.
Just add water…
Simply add water in the heating base and click the power button. Directions are provided with specific measurements for all styles of egg hardness. The Dash does most of the work by calculating the length of time necessary based on the amount of water added, so no timer is needed.
At the end of the cooking cycle, an alert signals the eggs are ready to enjoy. There’s no need to check the indicator light or manually open the lid throughout the cooking process.
Cleanup is simplified by easy disassembly, and all non-electric components are dishwasher safe. Though eggs may still crack in the cooking process, they’re considerably easier to clean up than in a traditional pot.
Is this our favorite small kitchen appliance?
No, but it is the handiest breakfast tool on our list and well worth the price for egg enthusiasts. Whether preparing brunch for a few or prepping meals for the week, the Dash adds ease and convenience to precise egg boiling.
The downside?
Only two eggs can be poached at once, and the texture for poached eggs can be a bit inconsistent, even in the same batch. We also found this small appliance a bit rattly and noisy during use and not compatible with social kitchen environments.
Overall it’s a useful product but with a limited range of use.
Pros
- Five Retro color options.
- Six egg capacity.
- Minimal kitchen footprint.
- Ideal for small kitchens, dorms, and campers.
Cons
- Not the most versatile appliance.
- Plastic lid is noisy during use.
- Limited capacity.
