Air Fryer Caramel Apple Dumplings Recipe by Robin Fields

Nothing says “cozy fall night” like warm spiced apples. This recipe makes an elegant dessert easy. The flaky pastry makes the most delicious house for the sweet apples. Honeycrisp is suggested for this recipe because of the balance of sweet and tartness, but any apples you have on hand can work, especially Fuji or Gala apples.

  • 1 (13.2-ounce) package frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 medium Honeycrisp apples, cored and cut into ¼" slices
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 large egg, whisked
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sparkling sugar
  • 4 tablespoons caramel sauce

1. Preheat air fryer to 350°F.

2. Unroll puff pastry on a clean work surface and cut into four equal pieces. Place ½ tablespoon brown sugar on each piece.

3. In a medium bowl, toss apples, cinnamon, and cornstarch until all pieces are coated.

4. Distribute the coated apples evenly among puff pastry pieces, placing the apples in the center of each piece and stacking and overlapping as needed to keep the apples in a pile.

5. Fold opposing corners of puff pastry toward the center, pinching at the top. Pinch all meeting edges together to completely seal closed. Brush egg over each dumpling and sprinkle with sparkling sugar.

6. Place dumplings into air fryer basket. Bake 12 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool 15 minutes, then drizzle with caramel sauce. Serve warm.
