I wanted to give my turkey burgers a bit of an Asian flair. On a whim, I added hoisin sauce, ginger and garlic. We love this version so much, we now eat them at least once a week.
TAKES: 25 MIN.
MAKES: 4 SERVINGS
- 3 green onions, finely chopped
- 2 Tbsp. hoisin sauce
- 1 Tbsp. minced fresh gingerroot
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. pepper
- 1 ¼ lbs. ground turkey
SLAW
- 3 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 Tbsp. cider vinegar
- 1 tsp. Dijon mustard
- ¼ tsp. salt
- ⅛ tsp. pepper
- 2 medium apples, julienned
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
ASSEMBLY
- 4 hamburger buns, split and toasted
- 2 Tbsp. hoisin sauce
1. Preheat air fryer to 350°. In a large bowl, mix green onions, hoisin sauce, ginger, garlic, salt and pepper. Add turkey; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into four ¾-in.-thick patties.
2. Place burgers in a single layer on greased tray in air-fryer basket. Cook until a thermometer reads 165°, 5-6 minutes on each side.
3. Meanwhile, for slaw, in a large bowl, whisk oil, vinegar, mustard, salt and pepper. Add apples and green onions; toss to coat.
4. To assemble, spread bun bottoms with hoisin sauce. Top with burgers and slaw; replace tops.
Freeze option: Place patties on a foil-lined baking sheet; wrap and freeze until firm. Remove from pan and transfer to a freezer container; return to freezer. To use, cook the frozen patties as directed, increasing cook time as necessary for a thermometer to read 165°.
