Yields 8, 1 per serving

  • 1 ⅓ cups hot water, around 110°F
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 ½ cups plus 2 tablespoons bread flour, divided
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup plus 1 tablespoon olive oil, divided
  • 1 teaspoon finely minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning blend
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided

1. In a large bowl, stir water and sugar together. Sprinkle in yeast and gently stir mixture. Let sit 10 minutes or until foamy.

2. Place 3 ½ cups bread flour and salt in a large bowl, then add yeast mixture and ¼ cup oil. Use a rubber spatula and stir until well combined.

3. Lightly spray a clean large bowl with cooking spray and place dough in bowl to let rise 1 hour or until doubled in size.

4. Dust a clean work surface with remaining 2 tablespoons flour then turn out dough and shape into an 8" × 9" rectangle.

5. Using a pizza cutter, slice dough into eight 1"-wide strips. Tie each strip into a knot, then tuck edges under the knot and gently press together to hold its shape. Repeat with remaining strips of dough, then let them rise 15 minutes.

6. Preheat air fryer to 370°F.

7. In a small bowl, mix remaining 1 tablespoon oil, garlic, and butter. Brush mixture over each garlic knot until well coated.

8. Sprinkle Italian seasoning and 2 tablespoons Parmesan over garlic knots.

9. Place garlic knots in air fryer basket. Bake 8 minutes or until knots are golden brown and bounce back from a quick touch.

10. Sprinkle with remaining 2 tablespoons Parmesan and cool 5 minutes before serving.
